The U.N. released a big report this week that says among other things, that more than a million species of plants and animals are facing extinction. This is something we need to act on, so to raise awareness, we went out on the street to ask people if they were worried about one endangered species in particular - 'Homo Sapiens.' Homo Sapiens, of course, are humans. So we asked humans if they care about the extinction of humans, and this is what we got back. 'The Origins Of Homo Sapiens With Professor Chris Stringer' From where did humans originate? What did the earliest humans look like? Why did homo sapiens survive while other hominin species went extinct? In this filmed episode of The Ancients podcast, we're on location at the Natural History Museum in London as Tristan Hughes delves into a huge topic; the origins of modern humans! Our guest, Professor Chris Stringer, is a leading expert in human evolution. Chris takes us through his research on the origins of our species, from Neanderthals and the strange hobbit-like hominin that lived in Indonesia, fossil evidence from across the planet, and how the 'Out of Africa' theory of early human dispersal has become more complicated in the light of new research. Documentary Film is a broad category of visual expression that is based on the attempt, in one fashion or another, to document reality. Knowledge comes in different ways through our five senses. Hearing, watching, touching, smelling and tasting are the only doorways to the outer world. The wise men say that if something is not truly experienced with all our five senses, the experience will be partial, not total. Therefore in a way almost all our gained knowledge through life is partial. And maybe they are right.

Just 50,000-100,000 years ago, Earth was home to three or four separate human species, including our most famous cousins: the Neanderthals. New research has shown that Neanderthals were not the brutish, unintelligent cavemen that cartoons make them out to be. They were creative, smart, social, and perhaps even had complex language. However discoveries have muddied the already stygian depths on this topic, and we might have H. sapiens ancestors much older, and more widespread, than that. That was until specimens showed up in Jebel Irhoud, Morocco that suggested a very early form of Homo sapiens was present. We say early form of Homo sapiens but the fossils, and similar ones in Florisbad, South Africa, aren’t universally considered to be modern humans. Rather they are that half-step away, showing some signs of full modernity, but not all. And these fossils are some 350,000 years old, which almost doubles the age of the previous oldest fossils. This hominin would have probably interbred with the archaic human species already present, whether that was Neanderthals or other species. #neanderthals #homosapiens #history #humanancestors #homoerectus #humanevolution #weirdhistory #evolution Scriptwriter: Marco Pardo Video Editor & Motion Graphics: Naman Meena Voice-over Artist: Stephen Lewis: stephenvox.com Sources: 🤍 Music: Motionarray.com DISCLAIMER: All materials in these videos are used for entertainment purposes and fall within the guidelines of fair use. Seventy thousand years ago, our human ancestors were insignificant animals, just minding their own business in a corner of Africa with all the other animals. But now, few would disagree that humans dominate planet Earth; we've spread to every continent, and our actions determine the fate of other animals (and possibly Earth itself). How did we get from there to here? Historian Yuval Noah Harari suggests a surprising reason for the rise of humanity. A Brief History Of How Homo Sapiens Survived The Last Ice-Age

A Brief History Of How Homo Sapiens Survived The Last Ice-Age The last Ice Age was during the palaeolithic and early Mesolithic periods of human history, beginning 100,000 years ago and ending 25,000 years ago, By the time it was over, homo sapiens were the only human species to have survived its brutal conditions. First of all – what was the Ice Age? The Ice Age or Last Glacial Period was the time during which up to approximately 30% of the Earth’s surface was covered in ice and temperatures peaked around 7 degrees Celsius Sheets of ice and glaciers covered Antarctica, Canada, Northern USA and Northern Eurasia, some of which can still be seen today, thousands of years later. Sea levels fell across the world and rainfall was less than half of what it is today. During this period, multiple human species existed and lived across the world – Denisovans and homo erectus in Asia, Neanderthals in Western and Central Eurasia and the modern-day human, homo sapiens, in Africa. With ice blanketing the land and a lack of rainwater, vegetation suffered, becoming sparse and limited. Conditions were often bleak, and food was hard to find for early humans. Did Homo Sapiens Really Mate With Neanderthals?

Before the early 2010s, scientists were conflicted on the question of Homo sapiens interbreeding with Neanderthals, but since then, multiple studies have shown the incredible overlap between Neanderthal and human DNA - enough that approximately 1%-4% of modern human DNA traces directly back to Neanderthal ancestry. Neanderthals coexisted with modern humans for tens of thousands of years, and the two groups certainly met. Evidence shows that Homo sapiens not only procreated with Neanderthals - they also slew and ate them. #Neanderthal #Homosapien #WeirdHistory

Long before Homo sapiens populated the earth, the Neanderthals lived in Eurasia. Now, paleoanthropologists in England and France are using new archeological methods to shed light on some previously unexplained Neanderthal mysteries. In an age clouded by the mists of time, the first early humans colonized the Eurasian continent. They settled on land that had only recently been covered by glaciers. This species, called Neanderthals, died out about 30,000 years ago but at one time, they formed the largest group in an area that stretched from northern France to the Belgian coast and from the Channel Islands to southern England. During the last Ice Age, the North Sea was frozen over and the English Channel was a small river that could easily be crossed on foot. The Neanderthals lived in close harmony with their perpetually changing environment. They had everything they needed to survive: the meat of prey animals, edible wild plants, water and wood for cooking and heating. How did these early humans develop over almost 300,000 years? What were their lives like before they became extinct? Our documentary is based on the latest research. We investigate various populations of Neanderthals, and visit archaeological sites in northern France, southern England, and on the island of Jersey. Renowned researchers such as the British paleoanthropologist Chris Stringer and his French colleague Ludovic Slimak describe how the Neanderthals lived, and discuss their cognitive abilities. Was this species capable of structured thinking? Did they have cultures, languages, and societies? How intelligent were they, and what sort of adaptive strategies kept them alive for 300,000 years? How similar were they to modern-day humans? - DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Watch top documentaries from German broadcasters and international production companies. Neanderthal DNA is 99.7% identical to our own, and researchers claim that some humans might be carrying as much as 2% of the Neanderthal genome. Making things even weirder is that scientists recently recovered a nearly complete DNA sequence from a 50,000-year-old Neanderthal skeleton. So in theory, Neanderthals could make a comeback.

Homo erectus was the first hunting hominin, tracking their prey over long distances and working together to secure meat. Their physical and mental evolution helped them survive on the African continent 1.8 million years ago. In the series "Out of the Cradle," NHK tracks the evolutionary journey of prehistoric primates over the course of 7 million years as they grew into the dominant species on Earth. This series uses CGI technology from the world’s foremost video game creators to tell the story of human ancestors with extraordinarily lifelike visuals. Why Are Homo Sapiens The Last Surviving Human Species?

Why are we the only human species left on the planet? Once upon a time the planet was home to Neanderthals, Denisovans, Homo Floresiensis, Dragon Man, Homo Erectus, and other archaic humans Part of this explanation lies in the very essence of sapiens, which means 'wise' in Latin. We have a huge brain that we need to nourish, and as such we need vast resources and as a result a lot of territory. Homo sapiens experienced a vast demographic expansion, and it is very likely that competition for territory was too hard for the rest of the human species. Another secret to Homo sapiens’ success is what some call 'hyper-adaptability'. Ours is an invasive species and while not necessarily ill-intentioned, we have been an evolutionary Attila the Hun. At our pace, and due to our way of life, biological diversity has been diminished, including that of other humans. We are a hyper-social species, the only ones capable of constructing bonds beyond close kinship, unlike the rest of the mammals. We share consensual stories like country, religion, language, and team; and we are willing to sacrifice everything for them, including our lives. Not even the Neanderthals, our closest relatives, who fashioned ornaments, symbols and art, shared this hyper-social behavior. For reasons that are still unknown, the Neanderthals died out some 40,000 years ago, but it may have been because they were not able to compete with hyper-social modern humans. 0:00 FRANKENSTEIN HYBRIDS? 2:45 UNUSUAL HUMAN SPECIES? 6:45 ARE THERE TOO MANY SPECIES? #paleontology #anthropology #denisovan #neanderthal #archaeology #ancestry

#Homo #Homosapiens Visitanos:...::::::::::: Mi pagina: 🤍
