Last summer we were very fortunate to visit Portofino Italy. It is located on the Italian Rivera not far from Genoa. We took an MSC excursion to Portofino which we bought onboard MSC Bellissima. We opted for the boat tour as I had been told that sometimes traffic was bad in the area as it was high season. The boat trip was quite long and when we got to Portofino we had a little under 2 hours. Still though we had enough time to explore. Portofino is one of the most beautiful placesI have visited. If you are in Italy you should definitely try and visit. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching!

Join us as we explore the beautiful city of Genoa Italy - the first stop on our cruise around the Mediterranean. Our day started with the most delicious breakfast on board the Sky Princess. Since cruises usually host people from different parts of the world, the food and drinks selection was beyond amazing. As soon as we got off the cruise, we were impressed by the beauty of the Genoese architecture. This is definitely a city that knows how to make a great first impression. Our first stop was the Genoa port where we found a cool spherical greenhouse and the Paleo Aquarium. Chantal also heard a local café calling her name - pun intended. But that was just the start – the port was hiding another ‘Only in Italy’ sight - a Lamborghini police car. Can you imagine being chased on the highway by a police Lambo? Italians, for sure, take pride in one of the fastest cars in the world. Impressed by modern technology, we decided to do a little bit of exploring around the narrow streets of Old Town Genoa. As we were discovering the colorful alleyways and hidden artwork stores, everything exuded whimsical charm and captivating history. Next, we got the chance to visit the memorial site of none other than the legendary Christopher Columbus who was born and raised in Genoa. After a nice walk around Old Town Genoa and the main city square, we decided to head back to the Sky Princess for onboard lunch and some delicious desserts. This Cruise ship is so massive that every time we made a move, we discovered a different venue like the cozy ‘Take Five’ lounge bar. In the afternoon, Chantal enjoyed her birthday gift and got pampered with a Fire & Ice manicure! Soon it was already time for dinner, so just before we joined everybody at the dining area for some tasty Italian-style dishes, the girls posed for the funniest in-house photographer. After the explosion of tastes and flavors at dinner, we felt like having a little bit of fun. The guys from the boy band Evolution did a great job keeping everyone entertained and in a great mood. Just before we called it a night, the girls decided to check out the pool area just to see how cold it gets at night. In just one day the Sky Princess offered us so much fun and joy. Stay tuned for more of the good vibes as we continue west to Toulon France! 00:00 Good Morning From Genoa Italy 00:10 Intro 01:13 Delicious Breakfast Onboard the Sky Princess 01:30 The Beautiful Genoa Terminal 01:44 First Steps On Italian Soil 02:13 Cool Spherical Greenhouse and Paleo Aquarium 02:36 Genoa Port 02:49 Only In Italy — Lamborghini Police Car 03:28 Old City Gates of Genoa 03:43 Exploring The Narrow Streets of Old Town Genoa 05:14 Outdoor Market in Downtown Genoa 05:46 Christopher Columbus Memorial Site 06:21 A Little Bit of Sightseeing Around Genoa’s Main Square 07:30 ‘Take 5’ Lounge 07:59 Chantal Gets Pampered in the Sky Princess Spa 08:41 Breathtaking Genoa Sunset 08:55 Posing for a Photograph 09:13 Italian Food on the Sky Princess 10:22 Boy Band Evolution Live at the Princess Theatre 10:48 Thinking About a Midnight Swim Under the Stars Enjoy the video!!! #Genoa #Cruise #PrincessCruises ► SUBSCRIBE for Weekly Travel Videos: 🤍 ► SUPPORT OUR WORK: 🤍 ► Our 2 new courses: - How to Start an Online Business - Geography Made Fun! 🤍 ► MAP VIEW of our videos: 🤍 ► SHOP Growing Up Without Borders Merchandise 🤍 ► WHERE TO STAY * Sign up for AirBnB and you’ll get $40 off of your first stay! 🤍 * Sign up for Booking.com and you’ll get $25 off your first stay! 🤍 *HOMEEXCHANGE: 🤍 ► ESSENTIAL Gear (these are affiliate links, meaning we make a small commission at no additional cost to you. We're in #Genoa today on our wonderful MSC Meraviglia Mediterranean Cruise. We've made absolutely no plans. How’s that going to work out? Explore MSC Meraviglia: 🤍 Read VERIFIED cruise reviews and set a cruise price alert with our awesome sponsor: 🤍?utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=cttv We are up bright and early as we cruise into Genoa, but we don't have an excursion booked. We are going to hang out on the ship, have a nice leisurely breakfast in the #YachtClub, and enjoy the view. Later in the morning I'll head down to the MSC Aurea Spa and give you a quick look around. After the spa visit, we head off the ship and explore the port a little. Before long we run into a friendly young lady that helps us decide what we want to do. A hop on hop off (HOHO) bus tour seems to be our best choice for the day, and we board the bus, cameras ever ready. It's a great tour around the city, and fits nicely with our collective energy levels. Back on the ship we've got more mom and son fun in store. We hit the waterpark, and get crazy on the slides. It's our last full day on the ship, and our last chance to experience the Himalayan Rope Course. Jr. Editor was the only one wearing proper shoes, so we let him hit the ropes without us. Of course, we took lots of photos and videos. It was super fun for him, and he had a great time testing his skills. We round out the night with the Cirque du Soleil dinner show. Spoiler, it was fantastic. Filming the performing is not allowed, so sadly we are not able to share any footage with you. Genoa is a captivating Italian city with a rich maritime history, where ancient palaces, narrow alleyways and historic churches coexist with modern architecture and vibrant street life. Genoa is widely believed to be the birthplace of the famous explorer Christopher Columbus. Its historical center, known as the "Genoa: Le Strade Nuove and the System of the Palazzi dei Rolli," is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area is renowned for its well-preserved Renaissance and Baroque palaces, showcasing the city's architectural grandeur. The world-famous pasta sauce, "Pesto," has its roots in Genoa. The traditional Genovese pesto is made with fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil. Trying authentic pesto in Genoa is a must for food enthusiasts. My walking tour begins in the Old Port of Genoa, also known as Porto Antico. It is a picturesque waterfront area that has been revitalized into a vibrant hub of entertainment, culture and maritime history. After a short walk I reach Palazzo di San Giorgio, one of the oldest chartered banks in the world. It was established in 1407 and played a crucial role in shaping the city's maritime and economic prosperity during the Middle Ages. From there I turn onto Via San Vincenzo and walk for a few minutes until I reach the Genoa Cathedral (Cattedrale di San Lorenzo). It is an ancient place of worship with a history dating back to the 5th century. The cathedral's architecture is predominantly Romanesque, featuring a stunning black-and-white striped façade and a mix of medieval and Renaissance elements. I continue walking along Via San Lorenzo, pass Piazza Giacomo Matteotti and turn left onto famous Piazza De Ferrari, a central square in Genoa. Several significant landmarks surround the square: Fountain of Piazza De Ferrari, Palazzo Ducale, also known as the Doge's Palace, Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa's main opera house and several impressive buildings, many with modern architectural designs, housing banks, businesses and commercial spaces. It is a must-visit spot in Genoa, where you can immerse yourself in the city's culture, history, and lively ambiance. I cross Piazza De Ferrari and walk down Via XX Settembre. Via XX Settembre is one of the main shopping streets in Genoa, Italy. Lined with elegant shops, boutiques, and cafes, it offers a delightful shopping and dining experience amid beautiful architecture and a lively urban atmosphere. Via XX Settembre is known for its unique and beautiful floor made of intricate mosaic patterns. I finish the walk at the Arco della Vittoria (Victory Arch). It was built in 1919 to commemorate Italy's victory in World War I and honor the fallen soldiers from the region. Please support my channel with a like or a comment and don't forget to subscribe. Welcome to Bogliasco. In this video, you’ll have an immersive experience in the Italian village and beaches of Bogliasco, a non-touristy alternative to the UNESCO Cinque-Terre that is no less "instagram-able". Located about 15 kilometers from Genoa, the charming and colorful fishing village sits on a cliff above the turquoise sea. With a small marina, restaurants, and shops, you can follow your own passions and swim, hike, sail, ferry, or SUP your way gently through the warm summer days. Introduction to top sights of the Golfo Paradiso: From a ferry boat, travel the Golfo Paradiso or Gulf of Paradise with glimpses of Camogli, a fishing village a few kilometers south of Bogliasco, and also, San Fruttuoso, a monastery set on a stunning bay between Camogli and Portofino, only accessible by ferry, boat, or foot. See nearby Santa Margherita Ligure, a town that borders Portofino. One of Italy’s best towns, Santa Margherita offers small alleys and promenades where you can let your curiosity steer the way. Take a quick peak at the bagni lifestyle, the way Italians enjoy the summer at beach clubs where a chair and umbrella are yours for the day. Check out smart working during the pandemic, the Italian way, right at the beach. Best Food of Liguria Taste the local cuisine, especially the pasta with pesto, a sauce made from basil, which grows like crazy along the Ligurian coast. In this video we show you Pesto sauce with a handmade local pasta called trofie. Spaghetti Vongole, with clams, and Spaghetti al Mare, with a mix of seafood make your mouth water. You won’t want to leave Liguria without finding your own favorite place for focaccia, an olive-oil-baked flat bread you eat plain or with favorite pizza toppings like cheese, tomatoes, olives, sardines, onions and more. Best Way to Experience the Most Authentic Local Life: Live the local life. We take you to our morning swim beaches and to the promenade between Bogliasco and Genova Nervi for an evening passeggiata, a local custom to stroll with your friends and family before dinner, often with a gelato in hand. See our neighborhood and an open-plan, attic apartment decorated by a local architect for an authentic living experience. The apartment sits above a natural pool of sea water hugged by rocky ledges that are perfect for lounging. Come along for our mishap of Chiuso Per Ferie, Closed for Vacation. This is the period in August, with no specific dates, and usually two to three weeks long, when family-run shops and restaurants and services completely shut their doors for business. Finish your welcome to Bogliasco and nearby top recommendations with a sunset and the twinkle of evening lights over Bogliasco from one of the many bars and cafes along the main street of the village. Listen to the opera in the main square, Piazza Aprile XXVI, complete with dogs barking and church bells ringing. travel videos & photos at: 🤍 with text, maps & links. One of Italy's most interesting but overlooked cities is Genoa, with its delightful waterfront promenades, a collection of classic old buildings, monumental statues, and my favorite attraction of the city, a vast pedestrian zone, one of Europe's largest, making a delightful place to go for a stroll. 00:00 intro 00:24 little alleys 00:48 not crowded 1:14 waterfront 2:07 via Garibaldi palaces 2:36 pedestrian zone 3:25 main lanes 3:40 restaurants 4:12 Italian Riviera Genova has an amazing number of those little side alleys. They go around, and up and down. Some of them are very quiet, like this one. Others are lined with shops and filled with people walking around. It's got so much character you could easily spend days in the maze of alleys of Genoa. You're about to see that Genoa is a wonderful place with many exciting attractions, and yet it's not in the top 20 most-visited places in Italy, even though it's the country's sixth-largest city with a population just over half a million, Genoa is not one of those cities that's overcrowded with tourists, which makes it a delightful place to visit. There are many enjoyable things to see and do in Genoa, for example, along the waterfront, you've got the beautiful marina, there's a maritime museum reflecting Genoa's long history, and the largest aquarium in Italy, one of the city's most popular attractions. Among the favorite exhibits are the manatees and the penguins, along with 15,000 other animals representing 400 different species in a beautiful building designed by the famous local architect, Renzo Piano, who also designed this crane that can lift you up 40 meters for a spectacular aerial view of Genoa. Another great view is from Spianata Castelletto, with a commanding view over the whole city. Pastel-colored buildings are typical of this region of Liguria, and one place you find a lot of them is along via Garibaldi, lined with historic palaces that are UNESCO World Heritage sites, ranking among the city's top visitor attractions. Nearby is Palazzo Reale, the Royal Palace museum, constructed in the mid-17th century, complete with frescoes, stucco paintings, sculptures and furnishings that belonged to the noble families who lived there. One of the great aspects of Genoa is the pedestrian zone. It's so enjoyable to walk around without any cars getting in the way, down lanes that are lined with shops, and cafes and restaurants, making a great place for people-watching. And there are many quiet side lanes, without shops and fancy attractions, but an authentic down-to-earth feeling to them. This is where the local people do their business, talk with friends, and live upstairs in the many apartments that you find in this central core of the city. Genoa is densely populated, with this downtown about two kilometers across, packed with commercial and residential buildings, with those little lanes running between them. About half-dozen of those pedestrian lanes, outlined in red, are the main streets that you would enjoy exploring. It's a safe place, but you might get a little lost, so it does help to have a map as you're wandering around. It's also wonderful to explore at night, where you'll find many dozens of outdoor restaurants. Towards the end of one of the main streets, you'll reach an indoor collection of restaurants called the Oriental Market, a popular gathering spot with many different choices of cuisine. There is a lot more to see in this beautiful city, with its hundred pedestrian lanes, and we didn't even get to the church is yet, but this is only been a brief four-minute summary of the wonderful city of Genoa. Genoa is at the center of the Italian Riviera, with towns stretching east and west. When you've finished your visit, there are many other great towns to explore throughout northern Italy, all of them easily reached by train. Genoa (Genova) is a port city and the capital of northwest Italy's Liguria region. It's known for its central role in maritime trade over many centuries. In the old town stands the Romanesque Cathedral of San Lorenzo, with its black-and-white-striped facade and frescoed interior. Narrow lanes open onto monumental squares like Piazza de Ferrari, site of an iconic bronze fountain and Teatro Carlo Felice opera house. Please Subscribe for more Videos: 🤍

Portofino Italy. Come see our Portofino Italy hidden gems found near Genoa on the Portofino Peninsula, a national park near Cinque Terre. This Portofino travel vlog shows you spectacular views, historic marvels, and local Liguria food in hidden restaurants unknown to most visitors. In this Portofino Italy travel guide, we’ll take you beyond the bling to four insider experiences in Portofino, the Italian Riviera’s most beloved and chic destination. In this Portofino vlog near Genoa Italy you’ll see its Italian Riviera charm doesn’t start and end with the classy little fishing village turned marina, there’s so many more Portofino things to do. The further you venture in Italy’s riviera travel, the less crowded it gets. It’s easy to call Portofino Positano, but Positano is Positano’s much southern neighbor on the Amalfi coast. Portofino is located on the Liguria coast in the section of the Italian riviera between Genoa and Cinque Terre. We’ll show you lesser-known Portofino things to do at this lovely destination a few kilometers from Santa Margherita Ligure, which we covered in a recent travel vlog. Santa and Portofino pair together well as one of the best places to go in Liguria and maybe all of Italy. If you’re in Cinque Terre, this area is not far and a great alternative to Cinque Terre. So you’re in for a great Portofino holiday. Portofino is the Liguria riviera’s picture-perfect fishing village turned luxury hot-spot of designer shops, yachts, and Michelin restaurants. Even thought this tiny, yet infamous place that can get crowded our local tips take you to unique experiences, less-traveled, beyond the hype. All it takes is to venture into the Portofino park, one of Liguria’s best-kept secrets, full of hidden gems. CERVARA ABBEY. Cervara Abbey is near Genoa, between Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure. You must make a reservation for a mandatory tour by the Abbey guides. 🤍 The garden is the best part of the visit — it’s the only Italian Renaissance style garden in Liguria. From the garden see the gulf of Portofino and down the coast to the cliffs at the beginning of Cinque Terre. And looking the other way, Portofino. VISTA POINTS. Tons of beautiful trails criss-cross the leafy Portofino National park leading to gobsmacking vistas. Pick up a trail map at the tourist office in Santa, Rapallo, Camogli or Portofino. BASE ZERO. The Base Zero loop goes up into the hills directly from Portofino and across the sheer cliff with even better sea vistas than what we experienced walking between villages in the Cinque Terre trail. You’ll share your journey with with far less people. PARADISE POINT. This best view facing up the coast to Camogli, Genoa. San Rocco below to Camogli and Genoa. SEMAFARO NUOVO. Semafaro Nuovo is another picture perfect view and the best instagrammable spot. If you look right below the bench lookout you’ll see the naval batteries built in 1941 to fortify Genoa. As you finish the loop you’ll get more sea vistas and a final viewpoint — this one down to the monastery of San Fruttuoso. SAN FRUTUOSSO. Taking the ferry to San Fruttuoso is one of our favorite experiences in this area. We’ve covered this beautiful location in our Camogli vlog and Bogliasco vlog because we can’t get enough of it! Ferries leave from Santa Margherita Ligure, Porto fino and Camogli before arriving in a half hour to this spectacular bay. HISTORIC MILL for LUNCH. Historic olive mill named Mulino Gassetta. Portofino peninsula used to produce olive oil for the surrounding communities. The osteria is casual with homestyle cooking. FERRY RIDE TO PORTOFINO. Return to Portofino by walking back to Santa Margherita Ligure and taking the ferry fifteen minutes along the coast. Portofino BROWN CASTLE. 🤍 and Portofino FARO LIGHTHOUSE. 🤍 Hope you enjoyed this HappyGoLuckyTravel Portofino video and to some of the best sights in Liguria and maybe even Italy. Please Subscribe! The Lantern is a symbol of Genoa, one of the most significant places in the city. It was the terminal of a ring of walls, the tip of a promontory on the sea that goes as far as the mountain. Visit also the Lantern Museum: the lighthouse is from the Middle Ages, over the centuries it has been changed several times, until the 19th century. The museum documents the technical evolution of the Lantern from its origin down to our own day. ► Read the travel diary on Italia Slow Tour: 🤍 ► Liguria itineraries on Italia Slow Tour: 🤍 ► Your travel in Italy continues on Italia Slow Tour 🤍 ► Become our Ambassador and be our guest in your next trip to Italy 🤍 ► Subscribe Italia Slow Tour youtube channel 🤍 ► Subscribe Italia Slow Tour mailing list 🤍 Follow #italiaslowtour: 🟢 Facebook: 🤍 🟢 Instagram: 🤍 🟢 Twitter: 🤍 📧 info🤍italiaslowtour.com - Copyright © 2018 Tutti i diritti riservati. Which cruise line excursions should you take, and which not? I suggest 6 excursions that I would usually take with the cruise line, rather than with an independent tour company or self tour. I also recommend 6 that I would suggest you consider not doing with the cruise line, and how to do them yourself. The big advantage of going on a cruise line excursion is the ship will always wait for all their tours to return before leaving. They do not guarantee to wait fro late passengers on their own arrangements. However, consider my list of ones to do and not do when planning excursions on your cruise vacation.
