🤍 What determines how long a lip filler lasts is its consistency, or what we call G prime. The thicker the consistency, the longer it’s going to last. But you have to balance this, especially in the lip, with what is going to feel good in your lips. It should feel soft and natural, versus just what’s going to last the longest. So, things like Restylane Lyft or Juvederm Voluma are things that I really don’t put in the lips. Those last the longest, but they can be very hard and firm, and just not look natural. But fillers like Restylane Kysse are very, very soft and they’re great for people that want just a little bit of refinement, but don’t necessarily want a whole lot of volume. FULL ARTICLE: 🤍 Which lasts longer Juvederm or Restylane? It kind of depends on the person and their metabolism. Juvederm for me is slightly thicker. It’s a little more firm than Restylane, which tends to be very soft, very smooth, very natural. If someone is injecting their lips for the first time. I like to use Restylane, because it gives a really nice volume without being overpowering. You can do the same with Juvederm, but you get a little more plump. It looks a little bit more, not necessarily Kylie Jenner, but just a little more volume. So, if someone wants that or they want it to last just a little bit longer, I’ll usually go with Juvederm. But they each have their benefit and work different in different people. Plus, it also depends on what your lip shape is to start with. If you have thinner lips like me, you don’t necessarily want to start with a thicker filler that’s going to try to add volume, all at once. You want to add very slowly over time to get to the point where you want to be. And I’ll actually start with the smoother fillers in the beginning to get a little bit of volume, before we move to the thicker ones to get us where we want to go. So, it’s more of a natural progression. Which lip filler is best? It really depends on your lips and your goals, and how we’re trying to get there. If you want just a little bit of refinement, you’re trying to make a symmetric lips more symmetric. You’re trying to get more of the liner, something really fine and thin, like a Restylane Sylk or Volbella is very nice if you want a little bit of volume, but you don’t want anybody to know you had fillers. Does massaging filler break it down? Maybe. The way that filler breaks down is that you have an enzyme in your body that breaks down hyaluronic acid. So, your body does this naturally in your lips and your skin, all the time. You make an hyaluronic acid, and you break it down. It’s a whole cycle. So, with fillers, you’re adding hyaluronic acid in a very concentrated gel, and increasing the volume there. You can, by massaging it, you can sort of smooth out that little place of the filler that you placed it. This is great, especially for the lips where you may feel a little bump and you can massage it. It will take it from being this very condensed ball of filler and then making it smoother. By injecting light hyaluronic acid-based fillers, lips can look fuller and like they have more volume. At VIVA, we tailor our treatments to individual requirements and facial proportions, always ensuring results are natural looking. How do they work? Fillers hydrate and revitalise the lip area, so they don’t just bulk them out. Hyaluronic acid is also produced by your body, so are easily accepted once injected and broken down naturally over several months. What visible effects can they offer? As you age, lips will become thinner as they lose volume – a process that usually starts occurring from your mid-twenties! Some people are also born with thinner lips. Introducing small quantities of filler can enhance the appearance of the lips, mainly by changing its shape and size With dermal filler we can also: Volumise and plump lips Provide definition Balance the profile Improve lip shape Hydrate and smooth lip lines Balance upper and lower lip ratio Do lips swell after fillers? It is very normal to experience a small amount of swelling. This is usually at its worst for the first 2-3 days post procedure. How long will lip swelling last for after fillers? Swelling will usually subside within a few days but we do ask clients to allow up to two weeks for this to fully go down. If you are still concerned after this time, we are always on hand to offer aftercare advice or welcome clients back to clinic for a review. Is Bruising normal after lip fillers? A small amount of bruising is completely natural following lip fillers and is usually nothing to be concerned about. Bruising is likely to be very minimal but can vary in severity from person to person. In today's episode I inject 1ml of dermal filler using a multitude of techniques, including the Russian technique, to help Mary on her lip filling journey to plumper, more defined and hydrated lips. SECOND TREATMENT: 🤍 Our beautiful patient today is no stranger to lip fillers and having increased the volume of her lips over a period of time, it was now time to crank up the definition to both the upper and lower lip as well as the cupid's bow. To help achieve this 1ml of Hyaluronic Acid based non-permanent filler was used, typically this can last 6-9 months. After using a strong, specifically compounded doctor prescribed topical anaesthetic cream, a number of lip filler techniques were used: - Russian Technique, this is the use of vertical tenting along the border of the lips to help give the lips a wider more defined look without loosing the projection of the body. It is best employed in those without previous lip fillers, however, it worked beautifully on our gorgeous model. - Linear threading within the body of the lips to achieve volume and projection. - The fanning technique was used with linear threads to minimise the number of injection sites into the lips. - Finally, structural support to the oral commissures was given to help lift up the corners of the mouth. To ensure patient satisfaction and symmetry, the lips are assessed regularly. At the end of the treatment, the lips are cleansed with antiseptic cream and moulded into shape. The patient was shown the before and after pictures instantly using Treatment Pad, an application that can be downloaded on the iOS store. The outcome is fantastic, the lips look immediately plumper, more defined and hydrated. Needless to say, she was very pleased with the outcome. * Please read this before watching* Hi friends! So this video is quite a controversial one and i'm sure I'm going to get a lot of flack for it because I'm a body positive content creator. I just want to clarify that I didn't do this because I hate my lips or think that it'll make me a better person. I got lip injections because they were free and I've always been quite intrigued by what they would look like. I go more in depth with this in the video but if you feel that you are quite impressionable/impulsive then I suggest to not watch this video. I'm a strong believer in loving your body for what it looks like at all its different stages in life and I also believe that you don't need to change yourself in order to be loved or worthy. YOU ARE MAGIC! My intention here was not to influence but to document and honestly share. I strongly suggest you take some time to think about getting fillers because there are many stories of it going wrong and therefore having health complications. Especially If you do not go to a qualified reputable Doctor. PLEASE do not try and find the cheapest place, PLEASE do your research and PLEASE remember that you need to do the internal work first. This is not to say I'm judging anyone who gets cosmetic procedures done in order to feel better about themselves. You do you boo but just be safe x Thankfully it is something that can get removed but should they inject something into your lips that is not FDA approved that could be a whole other story. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't get fillers. To clarify, I won a competition that included R 10000.00 worth of profiling. So by no means was I asked to say something positive about their practice or paid/endorsed. Anyway, I got my lips done at Dr Melinda who's practice is based in Pretoria- South Africa. Who remembers the Kylie Jenner Lip challenge... We do! Unfortunately Lip Filler migration is extremely common and there are multiple reasons as to why this occurs. Even if you go to the best injector, with the best qualifications, there is still a risk that you will experience filler migration. However, there are so many techniques that will slim down the chances of this happening to a patient and in this video I explain how I changed my technique completely! Enjoyed this video? Remember to Like, Subscribe & Share to make sure you don't miss out on new episodes of the Nip Talk series! FAQ💬 Q: "Can I get my filler dissolved and re-injected?" A: Yes you can! After having your filler dissolved, you will have to wait 2-3 weeks before any filler is injected again. Q: "How often do you need lip filler?" A: This is all dependent on the person. Everyone is different in how their body reacts and how quickly they break down the filler. We always make sure that you come back for a review so that one of our surgeons can assess your results and determine whether or not you need more. Q: "What are lip fillers made of?" A: Hyaluronic Acid and this is a naturally occurring substance in the body. In this video, Dr. Patel performs Juvederm injection to the lips of a 23 year old female. He uses 1 mL of Juveerm Ultra to give the patient more lip definition and fullness. She no longer needs her Kylie Jenner lip kit! There are several FDA approved fillers that can be used in the lips. This list includes Juvederm Ultra, Restylane, Volbella, and Restylane Silk. The filler chosen for a lip filler injection is based partly on physician preference and partly on the patient's needs and aesthetic goals. For example, if the patient wants more lip definition then Dr. Patel likes to use Volbella. However, if the patient requires more volume, then Dr. Patel will offer Juvederm Ultra. Radiesse and Sculptra should not be used in the lips. Juvederm lasts 6-9 months and Volbella may last up to 1 year in the lips. Restylane Silk last 3-4 months and Restylane last 6 months. The lips are sensitive and so to help keep the patient comfortable, Dr. Patel uses a topical anesthetic and ice. The fillers also come mixed with Lidocaine. When patients require more than 1 syringe of lip filler, Dr. Patel will usually start with 1 syringe at the first appointment and add as needed with subsequent followup appointments. His goal with filler injections anywhere on the face is to provider a natural looking enhancement. With each filler injection, the patient should look better but still look like his/her self. 🤍 I get asked a lot of questions about lip filler swelling stages and timelines. I do a lot of lip injections and many patients today love full, voluptuous lips. What patients want to know is what can they expect afterwards? Here’s a guide. FULL ARTICLE: 🤍 So what can you expect the day of the procedure? Usually the procedure involves putting a needle or a cannula in the lip with some trauma to the lip. The lip has lots of blood vessels. It also has a lot of glands. The combination of the blood vessels and the glands creates swelling. Trauma creates swelling, and areas that have a lot of blood vessels get more swollen. You may have some swelling the day of the procedure. Then the day after the procedure, there’s often a bit more swelling. Three to five days afterwards, there’s still a little bit of swelling, but the swelling is down and that’s when my patients tend to really like things. Some patients get afraid the night after the procedure, because they’re a little too swollen, and they look a little bit unnatural. The day afterwards, they may be even more concerned because their lip is a little more swollen. But three to five days afterwards, they’re very happy. In fact, while they have a little bit of swelling remaining, they usually like this. That’s true even for patients who want a very natural look. Bottomline, at three to five days my patients tend to be very happy, whether they want a very natural look, or a cosmetically aggressive look. Two weeks afterwards or so, many patients tell me they feel like they’d like a little fuller look. This might be because they liked the look of their lips with a slight bit of swelling remaining. There’s a curve of how big the lip looks after surgery. It gets its largest in 12 hours to 36 hours afterwards, and then at about four or five days it’s a very small amount of swelling. At two weeks, there’s generally no swelling. Is uneven swelling after lip fillers normal? What other things do people want to know? They want to know if their lips look a little bit uneven, should they call immediately? Well, swelling doesn’t necessarily happen symmetrically. Lips may get more swelling on one side than on the other side. Because of this, patients may notice a little bit of asymmetry or unevenness. I often tell my patients to wait 10 days or so, before I would re-see them relating to this. How can I reduce lip filler swelling? How do you minimize or reduce lip filler swelling? The best way is to minimize it when it happens. And that’s partially your injector and partially you. What can you do? You can stay away from things that make your capillaries fragile and make you bleed more in the tissue. These are the traditional things that we stay away from before surgery such as aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, such as Motrin, Advil, Nuprin, Aleve, Naproxen, all of those. As well as the herbal things that make us bleed, like garlic supplements and ginkgo biloba. If you stay off of them for 10 days, you’ll minimize your involvement in the swelling. Afterwards, you will do well if you don’t do heavy exercise or activities involving heavy strain. Don’t clean the basement afterwards. Don’t go to the gym and lift weights right afterwards. Join Maria on her cosmetic journey of facial restoration. In today's episode I inject 1ml of dermal filler in and around the lips helping to restore the structure of her lower face and what a fantastic outcome she has. To help achieve this 1ml of Hyaluronic Acid based non-permanent filler was used, typically this can last 6-9 months. After using a topical anaesthetic cream, a number of lip filler techniques were used: - Linear threading along the borders of the lips to achieve definition and reduce upper lip wrinkles. - The fanning technique was employed to achieve volume in both the upper and lower lips. - Vectoring or tenting was used to help evert the lower lip. - Finally, structural support to the oral commissures was given to help lift up the corners of the mouth. To ensure patient satisfaction and symmetry, the lips are assessed regularly. At the end of the treatment, the lips are cleansed with antiseptic cream and moulded into shape. The outcome is fantastic, the lips look immediately plumper and after 2 weeks they're fully settled with the upper lip mouth wrinkles reduced dramatically. Our beautiful models lips look hydrated, volumised and suit her face wonderfully. Needless to say, she was very pleased with the outcome. The patient was shown the before and after pictures instantly using Treatment Pad, an application that can be downloaded on the iOS store. In this video, Dr. Shilpi Bhadani discusses about the techniques of lip enhancement in detail. There are mainly 3 procedures which help in lip enhancement and rejuvenation, including: • Hyaluronic Acid Fillers: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers is the most common way to perform lip enhancement. Hyaluronic acid is present in our bodies naturally. With age, the volume of the lip decreases as the natural HA production depletes which leads to dry lips in comparison to plump lips at a younger age. Hyaluronic Acid brings the plumpness in the lips back. • Lip Fat Grafting: In this process, fat is taken from the body which is injected in the lips. Lip Fat Grafting gives a subtle and natural result but can not be compared with lip fillers. Fat Grafting in lips does not last long. • Lip Lift: In this process, the skin is removed in the shape of a Bullhorn from the area under the nose. The patterned skin is removed and is stitched which gives volume to the lips. Important things to consider: • Individuality is priority • One size fits all is not applicable Dr. Shilpi Bhadani has shared examples of different cases to explain the aforementioned procedures.
